I need a VISA to come to Annecy, how do I get one?

All foreign nationals (non-EU) wishing to come to France, even for professional reasons, need to be able to present regulatory documents at the border indicating the purpose of stay, means of subsistence and accommodation conditions.

Generally, unless exempted, a visa is necessary, which must be requested prior to departure from the French Embassy or Consulate in the applicant's country of residence.

If you are a citizen of the European Union (EU)
You don't need a visa, just an identity card.

For citizens outside of the EU
An up-to-date passport, issued less than 10 years ago, is mandatory. The validity should be more than 3 months after the allocated visa.

You will find more info on the France-Visas website.

How to get a visa?
You'll need the following documents:
• Official invitation letter* from the International Animation Film Festival and Mifa
• Schengen short-stay visa request form

How to get an invitation letter?

Important
Make sure you include the name on your passport on the form, which will then be indicated on the invitation letter for the French Embassy or Consulate in your country of residence.

Info
The official procedure often takes a long time and CITIA is not in a position to speed up the process. We recommend that you put in your requests as early as possible.

In Switzerland
A Swiss visa is not required in transit; passengers coming from or travelling within the Schengen area are not subjected to control.
If you are arriving at Geneva airport, go to the exit on the Swiss side and present yourself at the Festival Welcome desk to pick up the shuttle to Annecy.
